Our handmade tree-less paper is made from ABACA and COGON GRASS fibers.
Cogon Grass is a type of wild grass that grows abundant in the hills in various
mountainous areas in the Philippines.

Abaca (Manila Hemp) and Cogon Grass fibers are used to make these elegant and
one of the finest handmade papers.
No tree pulp is used in this paper making
process, thus saving the trees and preserving the environment.

The process involves various steps.  Abaca and Cogon Grass fibers are cut into short
strands, cooked until the fibers are tender.  Cooking time takes about 5 hours.
When the tenderized fibers are ready, it is then mixed with an electric beater to its
finest consistency.

Natural dyes are then added to give color (for colored paper).  Fibers are scooped
using mold and deckle (made of wood and screen).  These papers are laid on a
cheesecloth, dried petals, flowers, herbs, leaves and seeds are added for seeded
and floral designs.  Then it is pressed with steel plates and a hydraulic jack.  The
cheesecloth prevents the fibers from falling off.

These wet papers are sun dried but during the rainy season, stream drying is used.

These elegant handmade paper is used for greeting cards, wedding invitations,
scrapbooking materials, business cards and many more.
